Master's programme Computer Science 2021S |
Objectives |
The objective of this course is that students gain technical knowledge and hands-on experience needed to create mobile apps using state-of-the-art mobile technologies (smartphones such as iPhones, Android phones, etc.), mobile platforms, operating systems, and application frameworks.
|
Subject |
The lecture consists of two parts. In the first part, an overview of wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE, and GPS) and different types of mobile applications and development platforms, OSs, and application frameworks are given. Further, the design of mobile apps is discussed with the aim to give the students a solid background in how to develop compelling sensor-enriched mobile applications. In particular for Android programming, a detailed introduction is provided. The second part of the lecture is a practical part where students apply the techniques and principles they learnt in the first part to develop a mobile app.
|
Criteria for evaluation |
The course is a project-based course. The project can be done in a group of 1-3 students. Grading is based on the active participation in the theory part and handing in reports, and the final delivery of the project (practical part).
|
Methods |
The course combines a lecture part where interactive participation is ensured by discussions, small exercises, and reports that need to be handed in, and a practical part where students develop a small mobile application project and present their results.
