Quellcurriculum Masterstudium Economics 2019W
Ziele Course objectives include gaining base knowledge of both traditional and new trade theory. After the course, students should be able to explain main theories and empirical findings from international trade literature. In addition, students should be able to work with (formal) models used in international trade theory at a basic level.
Lehrinhalte The following topics will be covered:
(a) Comparative advantage
(b) Factor abundance
(c) Trade policy
(d) Imperfect competition
(e) Intraindustry trade and monopolistic competition
(f) Strategic trade policy
(g) Geographical economics
(h) Multinationals and foreign direct investment
(i) Gravity models
(j) Firm heterogeneity
Beurteilungskriterien Grading will be based on a mid-term examination (40%), a final examination (45%) and homework assignments (15%).
Lehrmethoden Lectures are held each week and every other week, half of the course time will be used to discuss homework assignments. Online sources, such as slides and transparencies will be made available to students via KUSSS.
