Objectives The course objective is twofold: before starting the program, the course aims to prepare students to live and study in Canada and Taiwan by raising awareness of cultural differences they will experience in different situations; during their stay abroad, the students will develop their intercultural skills by reflecting on their experiences and keeping regular journal entries on their acculturation process. During individual sessions with the instructor, students will discuss their cultural learning process and reflect on their own cultural identity at regular intervals during the program.

Criteria for evaluation
  • Individual dedication and commitment to the learning process and a willingness to experiment with different methods of cultural learning.
  • Regular submission of journals.
Methods Group discussions, individual inquiry and reflection, analytical observation, ethnographic writing.
