Detailed information
Original study plan Bachelor's programme Mechanical Engineering 2020W
Objectives Introduction into practical methods of material assessment for optimal selection of materials for mechanical systems design.
Subject Application of practical procedures for assessment of the main groups of engineering materials:

  • metals
  • ceramics and glass
  • polymers and elastomers
  • composites.

Performance and documentation of material tests. Evaluation and presentation of the results in a form that allows an optimal material selection to be made in the design process.

Criteria for evaluation Active participation in the laboratory exercises; preparation of the results and their presentation
Methods Explanation of experimental methods and their fields of application; practical execution of experiments; evaluation and presentation of the measurement and test results; presentation of the results
