Detailed information
Original study plan Bachelor's programme Mechatronics 2020W
Objectives Fundamental concepts and methods in kinematics and statics of rigid and deformable bodies
Subject The lecture Engineering Mechanics 1 is concerned with kinematics and statics of material bodies and their application to engineering systems. The topics

  • Basics of kinematics (kinematics of a point, relative kinematics and kinematics of rigid bodies)
  • Kinematics of deformable bodies (geometrically linearized strain tensor)
  • Basics of statics (force and moment, force systems, static reduction of force systems, equilibrium conditions)
  • Stresses (Cauchy stress tensor, Cauchy stress formulas, local equilibrium, geometrically linearized description)
  • Statics of 1D structures (rods, frames, trusses, ropes and cables)

are treated in detail.
