(*)To provide the students with background knowledge relevant to their thesis project.

| Lehrinhalte |
(*)To exercise how to critically evaluate recent articles in scientific literature and scientific lectures.
This series consists of 3 parts: journal clubs, project presentations, and guest lectures.
In the journal clubs students will discuss current articles in small groups. Several literature club groups can offered in each semester which cover different topics from the research areas of the program.
The project presentations give present their current results and discuss their results with fellow students and the faculty of supervisors.
Guest Lectures with national and international speakers may be offered throughout the semester.
The active role of doctoral candidates should be strengthened by this course.

| Beurteilungskriterien |
(*)Attendance of 80% is mandatory. It is not possible to achieve a positive grade if requirements concerning attendance cannot be fulfilled. Assessment is continuous. The positive result shall be described as "successful participation", the negative result shall be described as "unsuccessful participation".
