Objectives |
The students shall acquire base knowledge skills in research (philosophy of science, science studies, science ethics) pertaining to their dissertations.

Subject |
This course focuses on the fundamentals of research (philosophy of science, science studies, science ethics) which are presented and discussed in reference to case studies. Topics include: What is scientific knowledge? Basics of theory testing; the validity of empirical designs; scientific integrity versus scientific misconduct; qualitative and quantitative evaluation of scientific research (peer review, impact factors); development and functions of the scientific publishing system; the social and public character of scientific methods; the art of scientific and academic writing.
