Detailed information
Original study plan Bachelor's programme Fundamentals of Natural Sciences for Technology 2018W
Objectives In this lecture, we present selected topics from mathematics. Starting from the curriculum of a typical Austrian secondary school, we will acquire more advanced mathematical methods. The course can serve as a basis for more specialized lectures in natural and technical sciences. Since the course starts from the material taught in secondary schools, it is appropriate also for secondary school students who want to enlarge their knowledge on mathematics.
Subject Differential calculus comprises the operations needed to determine the speed of an object from its position, the forces acting on it from its speed, and, conversely, its position from these forces. To this end, we will study derivatives and anti-derivatives, differential equations and the calculus of multivariate functions.
Criteria for evaluation Test at the end of part I or at the end of the semester.
