Objectives Hands-on knowledge in handling of RF components and measurement equipment required for the development of radar systems; Practical implementation of different radar concepts; Comparison of theory and measurement by signal evaluation in Python.
  • Characterization of typical RF components used in radar systems;
  • Automation of RF measurement equipment (GPIB, SCPI, ...)
  • Practical implementation of FSCW, FMCW, and range-Doppler radar systems
  • Measurement of range, velocity, and position
  • System modelling, noise analysis, influence of practical hardware


  • DFT based signal processing algorithms in Python, including two-dimensional analysis for range-Doppler and beamforming applications
Criteria for evaluation Written protocols for the individual tasks and ongoing collaboration
Methods Practical implementation of radar systems and corresponding signal processing techniques
