To understand the foundations of digital circuits at gate level, the relevant foundations of electronics and analog circuits, the architecture of traditional and parallel computers, memory and bus systems, cache hierarchies, super-scalar architectures, VLIW architectures, assembler coding, as well as the software design for parallel computers.
