Objectives |
Objective of the course is to introduce basic molecular biology techniques to students without regarding their orientation either to experimental or so called "green" biology. The molecular techniques which are commonly used by all biology fields will be presented.
|
Subject |
1. Basic orientation in molecular lab - equipment, chemicals and preparation of reagents. 2. Working with sequences - basic rules and terms, databases and working with sequences in computer. 3. Isolation of various types of nucleic acids; gel electrophoresis 4. DNA cloning - various approaches, vectors, restriction endonucleases, cloning design 5. PCR and its applications 6. Genetically modified organisms - safety training. 7. Nucleic acids labelling and detection, hybridization, blotting 8. DNA sequencing, "next generation sequencing" 9. Polymorphism and genetic diversity analysis, homologous genes identification 10. Principles of expression analysis at RNA and protein levels 11. Proteomics, metabolomics, mass spectroscopy
