| Objectives |
Today's modern social welfare state has been - and always will be - strongly influenced by the development of a labor society. By studying various topics in this field, students will reflect on the causative correlations. The course conveys theoretical concepts of employment and unemployment and students will explore various levels of issues pertaining to societal (non-)participation based on employment and/or unemployment.

- Employment as a means to procure social security (old age provisions, health care policies, etc.)
- Alternative forms of employment
- Analyzing labor from a gender perspective
- Unemployment policies and politics
