Ziele (*)This course is intended to provide students with an understanding of the challenges of interacting, managing and leading people from various cultural and national backgrounds when conducting business in a global context.

This course runs from January to August and is taught in Canada, Austria and Peru. The course begins with cultural issues and challenges at the interpersonal level. It then proceeds to the cultural challenges faced by firms as they move along the internationalization process, from exporters to multinational organizations.

Lehrinhalte (*)There are a total of 16 3-hour sessions involving a combination of lectures and case discussions. 4 sessions will be held in Victoria with the remaining 12 sessions divided equally between Lima (Peru) and Linz (Austria)

  • Culturaly Different Ways of thinking (EG)
  • Group Processes (EG)
  • Post Merger Integration Issues (IN)
  • Selection, Compensation and Training (IN)
  • Cultural Adaptation (EG)
  • Managerial Issues in a subsidiary (IN)
  • Organizational Practices in a subsidiary (IN)
Beurteilungskriterien (*)
  • written assignments (case analyses) 60%
