Objectives Understanding the challenges for enabling continuous change by creating ambidexterity in mastering the digital transformation is aim of the course.
Subject
  • Participants understand the dynamics of the firm’s path development in times of technological change.
  • Participants know individual, group-specific, organizational, and strategic sources for inertia, which restrict the firm’s path development. Participants know opportunities for overcoming path dependency.
  • Participants understand the differences for exploitation (using existing capabilities) and exploration (developing new capabilities) and how both development modes can be balanced strategically, structurally, and culturally.
  • Participants understand the different forms for establishing ambidexterity.
  • Participants understand the leadership role in managing continuous change on different organizational levels and they know how to analyse and to design ambidexterity in their domains.

Methods We combine theory presentations and case-study based teaching accompanied by reflections and discussions.

Study material Readings will be provided for preparation and in class.
