Objectives Students have the required methodological knowledge for initializing, implementing, monitoring, and managing IT projects. They are familiar with the state of the art in information engineering and the underlying theories, in particular with project management as a management concept. They are able to apply project management techniques on specific Business Informatics projects that are typically run in practice. They know that the successful completion of IT projects is based on both, a creative and collaborative negotiation process as well as an engineering design process. Students have the knowledge to evaluate methods and tools, which are relevant for management of IT projects and apply them in practical projects when working as a team.
Subject IT Project Engineering & Management as a management concept; holistic management of IT projects; Process engineering and quality management; Analysis, planning and design methods of diagnosis; Forms of representation; Controlling and auditing; Negotiation techniques; Team organization; standardization; certification; systemic thinking; intercultural project management.
Further information Exercise: Task-oriented practice in teams based on the lecture. Homework assignments have to be prepared between the appointments. Results are presented and discussed in class.
