Fundamentals of organic chemistry; principles of organic-chemical structures; functional groups; elementary reaction types an their mechanisms; planning and practical execution of single- and multi-step syntheses; elementary natural product chemistry; nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR); molecular spectroscopy and structure elucidation of organic molecules.

Polymer Chemistry
Fundamentals of organic and inorganic polymers; thermoplastics, elastomers, thermosets; chain-growth vs. step-growth polymerisation, poly-condensation, polyaddition; Ziegler-Natta- and metallocen-catalysis; industrial polymerization techniques, reactors, polymerisation kinetics; polymer characterisation; epoxy resins; adhesives.
