Objectives Students are familiar with the strategic, administrative and operational tasks and methods relevant for information management. They are therefore capable to take responsibility for IT management tasks at mid-management level. They know management tools used for planning, monitoring, and controlling effectiveness and efficiency of IT. Students have the personal and social skills that can be expected from any IT executive.
Subject The module is divided into two thematic parts: i) information management as a management concept and ii) methods of information management.

i) Information management as a management concept: strategic IT-planning, quality management and technology management, IT-controlling and IT-revision, human resource management, data management, life cycle management, security management, business process management, knowledge management, operations management, service level management and problem management, social dynamics and conflict management; negotiation techniques.

ii) Methods of information management: scenario planning, portfolio analysis, analysis of factors of success, performance measurement systems; methods of cost estimation; analysis of cost-effectiveness; analysis of costs and benefits; methods of costs and management accounting; evaluation methods; utility analysis; benchmarking; risk analysis; methods of business process and knowledge management.
