Objectives Students understand and can apply advanced basics in mathematics and semiconductor physics.
Subject Basic concepts and methods in computational mathematics (errors, direct and iterative solution methods for linear equations, nonlinear equations, finite element method); Basic concepts of solid-state physics with emphasis on semiconductor physics, physical principles of relevant semiconductor devices, physical principles of active optoelectronic semiconductor devices, propagation of light in optical fibres, basics of photonic crystals.
