Detailinformationen
Quellcurriculum Masterstudium Computer Science 2016W
Ziele Visualization can be defined as the communication of information using graphical representations. In this course students will learn how information, such as graphs, text, tables, and maps can be effectively presented as well as analyzed by a user. In a practical lab part, students will have the chance to apply the theoretical knowledge to the design and implementation of an information visualization system by using real-world data. After this course students will not only understand the challenges in data visualization, but will be also able to design visualizations on their own.
Lehrinhalte Introduction to information visualization (definition, visualization process, historical aspects), perception and cognition, data foundations, high-dimensional data visualization, geospatial data visualization, visualization of time-oriented data, document and text visualization, graph visualization (trees, graphs, networks), visualization on the web, interaction techniques, visualization frameworks, collaborative visualization, applications of information visualization.
Beurteilungskriterien Written exam (oral exam in exceptional cases), practical lab assignment
Lehrmethoden Slide presentations with case studies; practical lab assignment
